Join the Campaigns

The candidates are ready to roll. The national party is organising as fast as we can to create state affiliates. We're up to ten officially approved affiliates, with about 20 more in the wings in various stages of formation.

The Charles Jay campaign would like to contact you with an appeal letter for funds for the campaign. To do that, they'll need your contact information. If you'd like to be contacted to help pay for ballot access or any other aspect of the campaign, please send along your name, address, phone, and e-mail address.

Thanks!

Just went to cj08.com and find no place to contribute, no place to contact, no link for a chip in. Nuts.

I think you need to look again.

There are icons on every post on the page. It's staring you right in the face. They were up there well before the date of your post.

Don't you see it - "We need your support now! DONATE ONLINE"

??????

It takes you right to the page to make a donation.

Here's the link to it:

If that's so hard to identify, I guess I'll throw them three across, add more links, whatever has to be done.

Yes, I did miss them. It might be well to use red and yellow in those logos.

It is certainly possible that I'm a fool, and ignored them. It is not possible that I saw them.

Red and yellow and orange are deeply embedded in our psyches. Food is often those colors - fruits, meat, grains - so we are good at ignoring blues, browns, and greens.

If you don't believe it, take a look at the most successful fast food restaurants in the world. What are the prominent colors in their logos? And do you suppose they did some research on this issue? McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell. There is a red, a yellow, or an orange in each of them. Look at their web sites - the stuff they want you to notice is bold and red or moving or orange, or yellow.

Make it pop, please. If I have to, I'll design them myself and send you the graphix.

I put another button up there. I wonder what everyone thinks of it. It has a couple of your colors and a couple of mine.

Yes, it is now very hard to miss. I like it! It really pops out of the page.

If you save it at slightly higher resolution, or reduce the scale, or make the .jpg file size a bit larger, or some of all of these, it won't look quite so scabrous on high resolution screens. But, quite good even so.

The next thing would be to have a place for people to "join" the campaign so you can be in touch with them as volunteers, state campaign coordinators, and so forth.

If you get some funds from the mailing lists you have, it might be well to hire a full time campaign manager, preferably one who can fix web pages part time. Or a part time computer guy who can do graphics and web stuff. A full time campaign manager through the end of October, paid at $60K per year basis would get $5K per month. So, that's $15K to raise. But, such a person would do wonders for organising state activities, doing advance work to put you at speaking events in the states where you'll be on the ballot, etc.
