Some convention thoughts
I'm excited about the convention kicking off, and I have a few thoughts to share:
1) I'm not going to endorse anybody for Chair. My reasoning is this: the two individuals running for Chair, Jason and George, are both amazing guys, either of whom will do an outstanding job as Chair, and both of whom I want to see continue in an active role in the BTP. I've been fortunate over the past few months to share ideas with both of them. I've made my own personal decision and voted, but I'm not willing to prescribe to you. Maybe that's ducking a tough decision, but I don't think so: it's a rare party that would have these two in it and willing to serve.
2) For other positions, I favor Douglas Gakking for Vice Chair, and (assuming that I vote for myself), Thomas Knapp, Darryl Perry, and Neil Stephenson , but I don't think we'd go far wrong with anybody on the list. I applaud each of them for putting their names forward. (And, of course, I'm voting for Michelle Luetge for Secretary.)
3) I strongly favor the Tom Knapp proposal that our program consist only of the four proposed resolutions that we have in common with the Campaign for Liberty. His reasoning (at http://bostontea.us/node/364 if you haven't seen it) is impeccable.
4) I'm enthusiastic that a combination of the proposals that Jason and George have already made will begin to propel us to fantastic growth. The country is ready for our ideas: people oppose the bail-out; they want an end to militarism, and just today even the Huffington Post called for an end to the drug war! Our ideas are winners whenever they are tried--we just have to overcome the social, cultural and political inertia that keeps the self-interested in power.
We can show the country that Freedom is the best choice because Freedom works.
And it all starts here. Get in there and vote.

Well said, Steve, and thank you for the compliments.
FYI, I'm not doing endorsements, and owe the candidates an explanation why:
I nominated or seconded most of you who are seeking election to office or at-large, and I appreciate all of you. I didn't vote for all of you, but I have no strong feelings that any of you DON'T deserve to win, so please, all of you yourselves endorsed or not endorsed, whichever each of you finds most pleasant.
Regards,
Tom Knapp

I think they are all great, and I'm not voting for anyone.
