50 state plans: KANSAS

Status

Kansas has an organized affiliate. It's state chair is Jim Davidson. There are no other officers. There is a core group of about six people who regularly show up to meetings. The Facebook Group has nine members. The state has a non-profit has a non-profit entity called the Boston Tea Party Club, which has a bank account containing $72, mostly donated with direction to use for ballot access.

Ballot access requirements

5,000 signatures gets a candidate on the state-wide ballot for President.

Party access requirements

Party access requires 1% of vote in any statewide race. It requires 16,994 signatures.

Strategy

The chair writes, "We plan to pursue party level ballot access. It is our intention to meet our obligations to do everything in our power to get the president and vice president nominees on the ballot here, representing BTP."

"We expect to raise money to hire voter registration and
ballot petition signature professionals. We'd also like
to have a continuing presence on college and university
campuses in the state, and we offer our services to any
other student groups at junior high or high school level."
