DO CIVIL LIBERTIES STOP AT THE SCHOOL HOUSE DOOR? KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
The next meeting of the ACLU of Douglas County is April 22. Steve Lopes, long time ACLU activist, will be the moderator and David Schauner, attorney for the KNEA will be on the panel that we are still in the process of putting together. We are also inviting a local expert on GLBT issues.
LOCATION: Lawrence public library auditorium
Areas for discussion: Searches of lockers and cars, free speech and press, police interrogation during school hours, religious groups and prayer at school events, discrimination and bullying, military recruiting, dress codes/message t-shirt, classroom to prison pipeline, etc.
Students and parents are welcome.
