Resolution supporting the Downsize DC agenda

On March 8, 2009, the national committee passed the following resolution:

WHEREAS Congress regularly passes bills without reading the text, and
WHEREAS Congress regularly passes bills without allowing feedback from their Constituents, and
WHEREAS Congress regularly passes bills dealing with multiple subjects, and
WHEREAS Congress has given "legislative power" to bureaucrats, and
WHEREAS Congress rarely, if ever, debates the Constitutionality of bills.

BE IT RESOLVED, the Boston Tea Party National Committee supports the Downsize DC Agenda of:
Passage of the "Read the Bills Act", which requires ALL bills be read before the full House & Senate and be posted online for 7 days before coming to a vote, and
Passage of the "One Subject at a Time Act", which requires ALL bills deal with one specific subject and be given a title that fits the subject, and
Passage of the "Write the Laws Act", which requires Congress to make laws and removes "legislative power" from government agencies, and
Passage of the "Enumerated Powers Act", which requires each bill to list the Constitutional authorization for passage of such bill.

The resolution passed with a unanimous vote of 7-0.
