Nominations to fill vacancies for at large national committee members

We have two vacancies on the Boston Tea Party National Committee for at large members. The primary responsibility of these officers is to vote on committee motions and create motions if they wish. You can read more details about the office in Article 9 of the bylaws.

Nominations will be open 3 days (until approximately 10PM Eastern Time on Wednesday, March 25, 2009). After that point, a poll will be posted for members to vote yes or no on each nominated candidate. The two candidates with the most votes and over 50% in their respective polls will be approved (do a search back to our last convention to see how this works). Polls outside of convention last 7 days.

You may nominate any candidate on this forum topic. Another member will need to second the nomination, and then the candidate will need to accept. It is permissable to nominate yourself or second your own nomination.

Nominations are closed. Raymond Lady and Matty Grossman have been nominated and accepted. There is a separate poll to approve each candidate for each of the two open positions. Here they are:

I nominate Jason Donovan of Texas a.k.a. Infinique for the At-Large Representative seat. As a new member, even though he hasn't done much for the party yet, I think it would be very interesting to hear what his views are and what he can and will do if elected to the At-Large seat.

Eternaverse:

I think Mr. Donovan is a spammer; he has included irrelevant links at the bottom of all his posts. His comments barely go along with the topic of discussion. He has posted several homophobic and anti-Semitic remarks. He has also called on the party to work with nut-job Alan Keyes. Mr. Donovan would not be fit to serve on the committee; I do not believe he is fit to belong to this party.

Todd Andrew Barnett:

Then I withdraw my nomination of him. He seemed legitimate to me. My bad then.

planetaryjim:

The party is whoever shows up. I do not agree with the nomination, however.

planetaryjim:

I nominate Steve Newton to the national committee. As some of you recall, Steve ran for one of the seats in the convention back in October. Another Steve won just the same number of votes, and was indicated in the tie breaker.

Steve Newton suggested the Gallatin Institute, which I think is an excellent idea. He's also been a very active libertarian in Delaware for many years.

inDglass:

Second.

Todd Andrew Barnett:

Given that there are no nominations at this point and this post was just put up, I nominate Raymond Lady for Tom Knapp's old At-Large seat.

Considering I promised him to nominate him for the position, I am honoring and fulfulling that promise. Raymond is a wonderful addition to the Party, and he would make a fine addition to the BTPNC. His experience, his wisdom, and his new ideas, I believe, will bring excitement to everyone in the Committee. I think, as a young man, he will bring a new voice to the table, just as our old ex-party member Peter Borath did a few years ago (who was a young teen as well).

Raymond is very principled, well-spoken, and a great addition to this Party. He will serve that role very well on the Committee, and his service will be quite exemplary.

For the second vacated seat, I nominate Angela Keaton to the Committee. I can think of no other better person to be a sitting member of the BTPNC than our old friend Angela Keaton, who is a member of the BTP by the way.

The Bandit:

While it's not necessary, I third this nomination.

inDglass:

I agree with what you say about Raymond Lady, and I second his nomination.

Eternaverse:

I accept the nomination. Thank all of you for you kind words, they mean alot to me.

planetaryjim:

I also agree that Raymond would be an excellent member of the national committee.

planetaryjim:

I second the nomination of Angela Keaton, subject to her accepting the nomination.

Matty1019:

I nominate myself for the committee.

southernpatriot:

I second Matty's nomination
