Organizing in Maine
I am also interested in helping to organize an ongoing, sustained BTP organization in Maine. I ran as a Republican for the State Legislature last election (Because the Local LP "organization" never responded to any emails about my running as a Libertarian, where as the Republican State Committee went so far as to do all the Legwork to get me on the ballot! - I doubt they'll make THAT mistake again :) ) and have also abandoned the National LP for their opportunistic nomination of Bob Barr and their grossly incompetant handling of the attempt to put a Libertarian on the 2008 ballot here.
I am considering running for the legislature again as a BTP line candidate this time in 2010. In the meantime, I want to try to get things organized locally. I'm setting aside 5-10 hours a week for Libertarian political organizing work and want to get together ASAP with others to form a core group to make the BTP in Maine a reality. Please contact me at westgardinerliberty@yahoo.com

Likewise. I'm next door in Massachusetts, and would like to organize the BTP here. With a lot of states close together here in the Northeast, we can encourage each other to build state organizations in several places. It just takes commitment from a few key leaders.
Thanks for your post.

Thanks for this commitment! I'm really eager to see things get going in Maine.
If I'm able, I would like to be at the Porcupine Festival in New Hampshire in June. Maybe we can meet then?
