Todd Andrew Barnett for BTP At Large

Dear BTP'ers:

Considering I recently came back into the BTP fold, I have decided that it's time to get this Party back into the business of securing -- or at least securing -- ballot access status in all 50 states, expanding our numbers, and uniting everyone in the business of reducing the cost, size, and scope of the state.

With that in mind, I have decided, after my recent resignation from the Secretary seat, to run for the national committee again, this time as an At-Large Rep. With that in mind, I am announcing my run for At-Large Rep.

Here are a couple of my credentials while serving as Vice Chair and (briefly) Secretary):

My Resolutions

1. As Vice Chair, I authored, lobbied and galvanized support for, and voting for the resolution to oppose the $850 billion bailout package that Congress passed in 2008 (the resolution itself passed 7-0.) Text of the resolution can be found here: http://bostontea.us/node/322

and

2. As Secretary, I authored and voted for the resolution to oppose President Obama's backpedaling of the war in Iraq. (That resolution passed 4-0 and one member abstaining.) Text of the resolution can be found here: http://bostontea.us/node/642

Resolutions I Voted For and Supported:

1. As Secretary, I voted for, supported the RKBA resolution that passed the NatComm, with a vote of 5-0 and two absentions. The text of the resolution and the vote can be found here: http://bostontea.us/node/631

and

2. As Secretary, I voted for and supported the Downsize DC Agenda resolution that passed unanimously on the NatComm (a vote of 7-0). Here is the text of the resolution and the vote: http://bostontea.us/node/632

I also chaired the 2008 Bylaws Committee for the National Convention, which adopted some bylaws, one of them (which was voted for and supported by the majority of the membership) being that all officers of the National Committee were allowed to serve no more than two terms.

Those are a few of my experiences as an officer of the national Party. I will provide a full platform for my run later, but suffice it to say, in the interim, I am running on three things: making this Party a force to be reconciled for 2010 in an off-year election, helping our own candidates get elected at the state and local levels, and keeping the principles of the BTP intact. I will expound on those sometime later. But, for now, I am hoping that the majority of the membership will support my run.

I will be setting up a Facebook group for my NatComm run, and I will post it here.

Thanks for those who have supported me in the past, and I am anxious to be serving you once again.

Yours in Liberty,

Todd Andrew Barnett
former Secretary, BTP National Committee
former Vice Chair, BTP National Committee

VTV:

Todd, I really wish you would answer the questions I asked you in your "I have changed my mind" post.

Thank you.

Todd Andrew Barnett:

I answered your questions, Neil, on that thread. Please read my answers on there.

VTV:

Ok, so as to put this in context for people who may or may not decide to vote for you, I feel the need to put this here:

I said:
"I agree with everything Jim said here too. However, Todd please consider this carefully:

"*Calls up a cab and escorts Mr. Chrysaetos out of the Party* Give this dude a ride to the airport here. I'm showing him the door.

*Mr. Chrysaetos gets into the cab and drives away*"

What does this mean exactly? That your going to drive him out of the party?

Once again. No offense I don't know this guy or why your mad at him. But consider very carefully your motivations or you could hurt the party more then you help it. We don't need more of these feuds. The monumental amounts of time we have wasted on them in this party already is proof of that.

(Note: Including the time I wasted on them. For the record.)

So Todd said:
"If you want me to answer your questions, fine. I will answer them.

And here are my answers:

"What does this mean exactly?"

It means that I'm helping him leave the Party. He said in one of the posts that if I had remained in the Party, he would have left it.

Here's what he said:

"The BTP is well-rid of you. And, had you remained in it, I would have terminated MY participation, STAT. OUT."

Well, the BTP ain't well-rid of me, and I don't like pricks like him pushing me out, even though I initially said that I was leaving it. He's not the main reason I came back, but he is a big part of it.

"That your going to drive him out of the party?"

No one, including I, drove him out of the Party. I didn't have to drive him out of the Party. As a matter, he did that to himself. He said he would "terminate his participation" in the BTP if I remained in it. Well, I decided to give him a hand on that.

Besides, I was changing my mind about my earlier decision to leave the Party. I'm allowed to change my mind.

Is there a problem with that?"

InDglass said:
"Was anybody really surprised by this?

No offense, Todd, but watching you go in and out of the party and various roles in the party is like watching a game of tennis! LOL"

And finally, I said:

"I would say there is a problem with it. For the reasons that InDglass pointed out as well as the fact that coming back to a political party just so someone else will leave it is bad form. Particularly if you want to run for office again."

Todd, I want to give you a chance here to explain why we should vote for you given the information above? You have plainly admitted that a large part of your reasoning for coming back is personal vendetta?

You have repeatedly left this party and re-joined it.

You have repeatedly been elected to positions and then resigned from them.

You have a history of personal vendetta motivating your behavior in this party.

Without digging up specifics which I can if I have to, I must ask you to consider heavily why you are doing this. And explain to us, as voters in this party why none of this should matter?
