Balanced Budget Admendment
Every seems to agree the Nat'l debt is an issue and yet I have heard no one bring up passing a Balanced budget admendment. We only need four more states to file under article V. Why?

I agree that any government should have a balanced budget, but if the federal government doesn't obey the constitution now, what's to ensure they follow an amendment requiring a balanced budget?
The problem with States calling a Constitutional Convention is that once a Convention is called, the scope cannot be limited to a single purpose. Many people fear, rightly so in my opinion, that a Constitutional Convention would be used to completely rewrite the Constitution, which would most likely strip away many rights and freedoms now "protected" by the Constitution.

Congress cannot set any limits, which is why they fear one because it could limit the powers of the federal gov't. There is no written rules on how a convention of the states would be ran. The states would have to establish the rules of conduct. Even if something rediculus was purposed, it would still take 3/4ths of the states to ratify. Passing just one admendment will be a challenge.
